The White Settlement Police Department responded to a home invasion on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 3:24 a.m. in the 8400 block of Tumbleweed Trail at the Oak Timbers Apartment Complex that is designed for active seniors. The WEST COMM Dispatch Center received an emergency call from a resident who reported an unknown man had entered her apartment and robbed her at knifepoint. A police supervisor was already in the complex on a residential patrol when the call was dispatched and immediately made the scene.
The police supervisor and additional responding officers located the victim inside the apartment with serious injuries related to defensive hand wounds consistent with a sharp-bladed instrument. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive.
Investigators obtained surveillance video at a nearby building that showed the male suspect, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and light-colored gloves, attempting to open residential front doors near the victim’s apartment. The video showed the suspect attempt to open two different residential front doors that appeared to be locked before walking to the front porch of the victim. The video shows the suspect open the victim’s residential front door which was unlocked and enter the victim’s apartment.
The victim reported that she was sleeping and was awakened to the male suspect standing over her with a knife touching her throat. The victim said the man demanded some of her property during the robbery. The victim reported that she attempted to push the knife away from her neck and suffered a severe hand wound. Detectives believe the suspect fled the scene on foot with some cash and keys that he obtained from the victim.
Based upon speaking with the victim, a woman in her late 60s, the suspect is believed to be possibly Hispanic, 5’07”-5’09” tall, and stocky build. The suspect used his hooded sweatshirt to cover his face and wore gloves on both hands during this crime.
The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office is assisting with processing of the crime scene. Anyone with information is asked to contact WSPD at 817-246-4973. Investigators are also asking residents in the area to check possible video footage that may have captured the suspect walking in the area or fleeing after the offense on foot from 2:00 a.m. to 4 a.m.
Officers and detectives remain on scene at this hour processing the incident and canvassing the neighborhood for additional video.
