During the week of March 25, 2024, the White Settlement Police Department began installing new speed detection radar equipment in all patrol vehicles across the fleet. This program was made possible with full funding from Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s Public Safety Office through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program.

The total grant award received was $42,042.

The department reviewed various vendors and selected the Stalker DSR 2X Radar with wireless Fast Lock Remote from Applied Concepts, Inc. in Richardson, Texas. To learn more about this cutting-edge technology, click https://stalkerradar.com/police-radar/dsr-2x/.

“As a small agency, levering various grant opportunities to enhance our ability to make our roads safer is extremely important,” said Chief of Police Christopher Cook. “Our team wants to thank the Nort Central Texas Council of Governments and Texas Governor Greg Abbott, along with the Governor’s Public Safety Office, for approving our request for full funding of this program.”

The department will utilize these new vehicle-mounted radar systems to supplement handheld Lidar devices to measure speeds on roadways and highways. The goal is to improve traffic safety across the city and region.
