WSPD Achieves Fourth Consecutive Re-Accreditation from Texas Police Chiefs Association

Police News Releases Posted on September 04, 2025 | Last Updated on September 04, 2025

The White Settlement Police Department achieved its fourth consecutive re-accreditation from the Texas Police Chiefs Association on July 28, 2025. This achievement was celebrated at the September 2, 2025 City Council meeting. Each accreditation period is valid for four years with the department initially receiving this prestigious honor in 2013. Less than 10% of law enforcement agencies across the State of Texas have achieved this gold standard of excellence.

White Settlement is one of only 220 agencies out of more than 3,000 departments across the Lone Star State to prove compliance with over 170 Texas Law Enforcement Best Practices. This re-accreditation process is exhaustive in nature and includes validation of best practices, policy adherence, and interviews with employees. Richland Hills Police Chief Kim Sylvester represented the Texas Police Chiefs Association in presenting the framed certificate during the City Council meeting. The department will also be recognized during the 2026 Texas Police Chiefs Association Annual Conference.

“As the gold standard for demonstrating our adherence to best practices and policy alignment, we are thankful for this designation and honor,” said Chief of Police Christopher Cook. “On behalf of our public safety team, this re-accreditation is a testament to their hard work and commitment to excellence."

“On behalf of our senior city leadership team, we are extremely proud of the police department’s achievement,” said City Manager Jeffrey J. James. “As City Manager, we will always pursue best practices and excellence across our city corporation.”

"Our entire community should be proud of the professionalism and achievement by Chief Cook and his team, said Mayor Faron Young. This is a huge honor and on behalf of our City Council, we share in the gratitude for a job well done.

Congratulations on leading the White Settlement Police Department to their fourth consecutive re-accreditation from the Texas Police Chiefs Association,” said United States Senator John Cornyn. “This recognition is a testament to your steadfast leadership and dedication to keeping your community safe."
