The White Settlement Police Department is launching a new community engagement program, UNIDOS, tailored after the highly successful platform created by Allen Police Chief Steve Dye in 2002. UNIDOS is a Hispanic community outreach program designed to help Spanish-speaking residents in the west Fort Worth and White Settlement area. UNIDOS meetings will be held monthly at the White Settlement Law Enforcement Center.
The goal of the UNIDOS program is to provide generic information and resources for Spanish-speaking residents. While there may be some law enforcement discussion, majority of the programming is geared towards everyday quality of life issues. Topics include, but are not limited to:
- U.S. Banking System
- Home Buying and Renting
- Immigration
- Insurance
- Driver’s License
- Common Scams
- Vehicle Registration and Emissions Testing
- Parks and Recreation
- Social Security Administration
- Cultural Awareness
- Criminal Justice System
- Environmental Protection Strategies
- Fire Department Operations
The kick-off launch event will be held Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at 6 p.m. For more information, please contact Corporal Laura Gonzalez at lgonzalez@wspd.us or 817-246-7070 x418.
