New restrictions on gatherings

drawing of several people gathered together

In one of his recent Executive Orders, Governor Greg Abbott introduced new restrictions on gatherings of more than 10 people. The gatherings that are exempted from these new restrictions include:

  • Religious services

  • Local government operations

  • Child-care services

  • Youth camps including all summer camps and other daytime and overnight camps for youths

  • Recreational sports programs for youth and adults

Also exempted from the new restriction so long as they do not exceed 50 percent capacity are:

  • Professional or collegiate sporting events

  • Swimming pools

  • Water parks

  • Museums and libraries

  • Zoos, aquariums, etc.

  • Amusement parks

If you are looking to hold a gathering of more than 10 people within the City that does not fall under any of the above categories, Governor Abbott has created a process for you to seek approval of that gathering. Fill out the following form and submit it to have your gathering considered for approval.

Thank you for all that you’re doing to keep yourselves and others safe during this pandemic. This has been a trying time for all of us but we will continue to do what is needed to keep moving forward through these challenges.

Thank you,

Jeffrey J. James
