Code Enforcement Officers work with the Code Compliance Division. They are licensed by the State of Texas and must adhere to federal laws restricting search and seizure. The state regulates actions that can be taken in response to many violations and Code Enforcement Officers are required to act in accordance with these regulations. Despite the title, Code Enforcement Officers are not peace officers and they do not have the same authority.
