The Management Information Services (MIS) department is responsible for the administrative and technical work required in the development, maintenance, and overall functioning of a citywide data processing and management information system. The functions of the MIS department include: developing short and long-term plans for the citywide data processing system; maintaining and purchasing all hardware, peripherals, and software related to this system; organizing and developing policies designed to improve and regulate the use of all computers and networks; the integration of all computer systems; organizing training for city staff on hardware and software essential for job completion; and maintaining the audio/visual system and the Geographic Information System division.
