Four Officers Promoted

On Thursday, January 19, 2017, four officers were promoted after a grueling promotional process.  Every one of these officers have demonstrated outstanding leadership and will serve the department and the community well.

Roger Yount was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant.  Lt. Yount started working for the Police Department in May of 2000. He holds a Master Peace Officer License by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.  He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Tarleton State University and is now working towards is Master’s Degree.  He served as a Detective for 5 years.  He has been a member of the SWAT Team, the Crisis Negotiation Team, the Accident Investigation Team, and is a Police Instructor.

Denise Callahan was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.  Sgt. Callahan is the first female Sergeant for the Police Department.  She started working for the Police Department in November of 1999 as a Reserve Officer and became a full-time officer in February 2001.  She holds a Master Peace Officer License by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement and just completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Tarleton State University.  She served as a Detective for 7 years.  She is a member of the Tarrant County Sexual Assault Response Team and the Tarrant County Family Violence Council.  She also serves as a Criminal Justice Advisor for Brewer High School’s Criminal Justice Class.

Jason Carter was promoted to the rank of Senior Corporal.  Sr. Corporal Carter started working with the Police Department in March of 2011.   He holds an Advanced Peace Officer License by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.  He also has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of North Texas.  He has served on the SWAT Team and as a member of the Street Crimes Unit.  He currently serves as the departments Community Resource Officer and Public Information Officer.

James Stewart was promoted to the rank of Corporal.  Corporal Stewart started working with the Police Department in May of 2002 as a Reserve Police Officer and became a full-time police officer in December 2006.  Prior to joining the Police Department, he served 20 years in the United States Navy.  He holds a Master Peace Officer License by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.  He served 3 years as a Detective and as a member of the SWAT Team.  He currently serves on the Firearms Training Team and is a Field Training Officer.
